Dear Members, Here’s a quick round up from the South Yardley neighbourhood policing team. What’s been happening: We conducted a partnership day on 17th July with Counsellor Shabrana Hussain, Trading standards, DVLA, Offender 2 Recovery, Change Grow Live (CGL) and Turn Around Charity. This was focused upon Manor Farm Road, Morcom Road, Cowley Road and River Lee Road. We were able to conduct door knocks and gain insights into the concerns around the area that residents are reporting. We seized a vehicle and 2 were arrested for Immigration offences, businesses were spoken to about the use of their garages and vehicles on the road. Due to the arrests taking up more of our time, we reattended to the location days after and seized 3 vehicles and further engaged with residents and business owners. Some of the business owners were able to move the vehicles into the garage and into an appropriate position. However, we will now be monitoring this going forward, so we ask all residents to ensure their vehicles are Taxed! We hope this offers reassurance to the community as a whole we will act upon any information we are informed or concerns. We additionally ask for DVLA to attend the locations in our absence with their ANPR to conduct checks and this is fed back to officers of their findings. The last check we received shown stats of over 2000+ was run through and 70+ was found to have no tax and were on the road. DVLA will now look into those and submit fines were required. There was a community day on Debenham Crescent on the grass land involving local churches, gospel choir that came from across the words as far as Germany and much more. There was singing, dancing performances, free food and ice cream and inflatables for everyone to enjoy. As part of the Gospel they set up a station where you could get a personalised bracelet made and discuss the journey and pathway of Christianity. We have been speaking to a few businesses around the Yew Tree about there being community concerns with businesses not reporting shop theft and officers have been and spoken to them to start reporting and offer that reassurance and trust building. Officers from the team have been conducting various arrests where by 2 stop searches lead to arrests as they were found in possession of Class A drugs and one was wanted for failing to appear in court. not hesitate to contact the below details and we will get you signed up. Empowered Steps will be on 27th July 2025 at Oakland's Recreational Ground from 10:30 to 11:00. The meeting point will be on the pathway behind the skate park.
